Magical Aromatherapy
from admin on 12/14/2016 05:56 AMMagical Aromatherapy
Ask any Pagan or Wiccan what they love most about working with herbs, and chances are good they'll tell you how much they love the smell. Herbs contain small glands that hold their essential oils, and when these oils are extracted they release scent molecules. The science of aromatherapy takes advantage of this natural phenomenon and expands it just a bit -- because olfactory sensation stimulates parts of the brain connected to memory and emotion.
Ever catch a whiff of a stranger's perfume and suddenly be reminded of your aunt who passed away when you were twelve? Have you suddenly caught a touch of magnolia on the breeze, and remembered the time you and that special someone went away for a weekend? Does the smell of freshly turned earth remind you of childhood summers at grandpa's farm? It's because the nose knows, and it helps us remember.
Vaporizing is the easiest method to release the aroma of essential oils, and causes the aroma to be taken into the body via inhalation. To use this method, add five or six drops of essential oil to four cups steaming water, and place it in a bowl. With your eyes closed, cover your head with a towel and lean over the bowl. Breathe deeply for about a minute to get the full effect.
You can also use massage techniques for aromatherapy, but it's very important not to rub essential oils directly into the skin. Essential oils should be diluted before coming into contact with bare skin, or they can cause irritation. Add a dozen or so drops of your favorite essential oil into a neutral base oil, such as grapeseed or almond.
Finally, you can add oils to your bathwater and allow yourself to just soak. Forget about those boxes of heavily perfumed stuff -- natural oils are a wonderful way to pamper yourself. Fill your tub with the warmest water you can handle and then add eight to ten drops of essential oil. Splash around a little so the oils blend with the steam from the bathwater. Spend a good fifteen minutes in there, breathing in the scent and enjoying some alone time.
Essential oils can be used for a number of different ritual needs:
Sage and Tobacco Leaf: to enhance intuition
Jasmine and Mugwort: to bring prophetic dreams
Rosemary: to assist with memory
Lavender and Comfrey: for restful sleep
Rowan and Sage: to increase wisdom
Eucalyptus, Feverfew and Comfrey: for healing
Lemon Balm and Sandalwood: for purification

Axioms of Magic
from admin on 12/14/2016 05:55 AMAxioms of Magic
I think that scepticism about the efficacy of Magic (Mageia, Magikê, Mageutikêe) stems from three misunderstandings, which can be called the Fallacies of Dualism, Individualism, and Egoism. These remarks are intended to dispel these fallacies from a Neo-Pythagorean perspective, but are based on ideas common to most ancient Hellenic philosophies.
I.
In this context, Dualism is the view that there are two essentially different "stuffs": mind and matter, or something similar. Since the modern scientific worldview attaches more reality to matter (or the physical) than to mind (or the psychical), there is a tendency to suppose that Magic, which is primarily psychical, can have no effect on the physical world.
On the other hand, Monism is the view that there is one basic "stuff" in the universe, although it is experienced in two different ways. When it is experienced from the "inside" it is experienced as psychical, as our mental states and processes. When it is experienced from the "outside" it is experienced as physical, as material states and processes outside of us. From the monistic perspective, the mental is just as real as the material, because it is just the other side of the same reality.
II.
The fallacy of Individualism is the supposition that each mind is separate from every other mind, that we are all individuals. However, many of the ancient philosophies teach that we each possess a spark of Divinity and that the divine parts of our souls connect us to the totality of Divinity. The analogy was made to a statue of Three-faced Hecate. Like the faces on the statue, each of our Egos looks out through a different set of eyes, and supposes that it is a separate being. But at the back of our heads (so to speak) we are all joined, we are all one.
In ancient Greek, Bathus means both high and deep, as does Latin Altus. Therefore, your Higher Mind, where you connect with Divinity and, through it, to all other minds, is also your Deeper Mind (the Collective Unconscious, in Jung's terms).
As you move Higher/Deeper beyond your individual Ego, you come to the Gods, who are the same for everyone. Pressing further, you come to the Monad, which is the unity of All Things (ta Panta, ta Hola). The Flow of The All is the Providence (Pronoia) or Destiny to which all things are subject, even the Gods. It is the Providential Flux of The All (though not an immutable predestination).
III.
By the fallacy of Egoism I mean the assumption that one's conscious Ego is in charge. Rather, the Ego is the servant of the Higher/Deeper parts of the soul and, ultimately, the servant of the Gods. The Ego has an important role to play, or the Gods wouldn't have created it, but it is important to understand that it is a means to the ends of the Gods and Providence, the collective Divine Movement. The Gods have given us consciousness and free will so that we might aid in the accomplishment of Their goals and in the fulfilling of Universal Destiny.
Although you think of your Ego as "you," because it is the part of your soul most separated from others' souls, it is in fact the lowest/shallowest part of your psyche. Your Deeper/Higher Self, which is the true "you," is more closely united with the Deeper/Higher Selves of other people.
IV.
In true Magic, which is a sacred art, the Magus acts to fulfil the Destiny of The All. Therefore, it is important that the Magus be "enlightened," at least to the point that he or she serves the Higher/Deeper Self rather than the Ego. That is, as Magus you employ your Ego as a tool for bringing the Will of the Gods into conscious awareness so that, by symbolical acts, that Will may be more effectively accomplished. (This is, presumably, at least part of the reason the Gods created us.)
What are these symbolical acts? As in the physical world things affect each other by physical forces, so in the psychical world Ideas influence each other by symbols, signs, and sympathies. These are the raw materials with which the Magus works. If the basic currency of the physical world is energy, then the basic currency of the psychical world is Meaning. By manipulating connections and influences the Magus effects change in the psychical world, which is - be it remembered - as real as the physical world, by the Principle of Monism. That is, since the psyche is an authentic perspective on Reality, symbolic connections, perceived or constructed in the mind, are as real as physical connections.
Magic works most effectively when the Ego is in service to the Higher Self, which is in service to the Gods. Therefore Magic is most effective when it helps to fulfill Destiny. As a consequence, successful Magic often appears non-miraculous in hindsight because, in hindsight, the outcome seems probable or even inevitable.
Magic that attempts to thwart Universal Destiny is less successful. It is like trying to row against the current of a mighty river; one can do it for a time, but the river wins in the end. So also such Magic may create chaotic vortices in the Flow, but the effects are local and dissipate before long.
The true Magus does not fight the river, but works with it, helping to channel it in its destined direction. Therefore successful Magic entails knowledge of Providence and willingness to work with It. Fortunately, misguided Magic is usually ineffective. Sacred Magic is made powerful by its cooperation with Divine Providence.
V.
The foregoing remarks do not imply that the true Magus never works Magic for his or her own benefit. Rather, you may work Magic for your own immediate good if that facilitates your Sacred Service to Providence. For example, you may use Magic to protect yourself from robbers, or to protect your land from invaders, if doing so helps you to fulfill your Sacred Charge. Of course, if Destiny is better fulfilled by your being robbed or by your land being overrun, then you may find that your Magic is ineffective, at least in the long run.
Practically, the Magus must try to divine the Will of the Gods; thus you may know the ends to which your Magic should be directed. Then you should put your Ego in service to your Higher Self and the Gods. By leaving the outcome of your Magic in the laps of the Gods, you will ensure that your Art is in conformity with Providence, and does not balk it.
VI.
The foregoing may be summarized in these Axioms of Magic:
Know that the Universe is Mind
and Matter simultaneously.
Know that your Higher Selves are all
united in Divinity.
Thine Ego serves thine Higher Self,
which serves the Gods devotedly.
Let Signs and Symbols be transformed
to do the work of Destiny.

Power Spots
from admin on 12/14/2016 05:54 AMPower Spots
Just as humans have power points, the earth also has areas where energy varies.
These are called power spots. Places like Stonehenge, and the Valley of the Dead are
examples of power spots. Just as human beings have areas where their energy is more
concentrated, so does the earth. Most of the older churches and temples were built on
power spots, where it is much easier to connect with the spiritual realms. When you approach a sacred place, you can feel it's power and the strength that lies there. These places can be used to intensify your personal power and to assist you in connecting more fully with your spiritual center.
Whenever you enter a room you automatically gravitate toward a place that feels comfortable.
The place that you feel most comfortable in is often your personal power spot. It is the place that balances most closely with your own energy. As you stand or sit in this spot, your energy is magnified;
it is like putting jumper cables on a car battery. The ability to consciously find these power spots can greatly enhance your sensitivities to energy and your own process.
Being able to find these is like many of the other exercises in this book; they all allow you to know a little more about yourself than you did before.
I suggest you find your power spot in nature. In any given location, there is a place that fits
you better energetically than any other location. There are also places that can drain your energy and make you feel and act less effectively. It is important to be able to tell the difference.
One spot may energize you while another weakens you and can actually make you sick.
There are three major types of power spots. One type gives you energy and is healing.
Another type of spot actually drains energy from anything within its boundaries.
There are also power spots that are tricksters. They confuse people and trick them into
giving up their power and sanity. It takes practice to be able to differentiate between them.
The easiest way to tell between the types is by how you feel. It is important to trust how you feel and what you sense as you explore the energy levels of the different types of power spots.
These spots affect you whether you are consciously aware of them or not.
Begin by calling upon your protector and ask the universe for guidance.
Relax and focus on your breathing. Slowly look around the area. Does one spot "look"
brighter than the other? See how each section feels as you stand in it. Feel from your heart.
Do some feel lighter and some heavy? Do you feel confused as you stand in some places?
Now slowly walk around the area. Take time to stand in any place that attracts you.
Compare how each one feels to you. Notice the plants and grasses in the various areas.
Do they look healthier in one place, greener and more alive?
Let your self look intuitively where your power place is.
Now sit down and begin to meditate. How do you feel as you sit in that spot?
Does the energy feel loving and peaceful? If it feels rough or unsettling, move.
Soon it will become second nature; you will automatically sit in your power spot.
Avoid listening to your mind during this process. Trust the inner knowing.
Your inner knowing, your sacred self, will never lie to you.
Secrets of the Herbal Code
from admin on 12/14/2016 05:53 AMSecrets of the Herbal Code
Among the Old Religionests was a great deal of herbal lore. Much of this lore was kept secret as some of it was psychoactively dangerous, and some of it was because they were paid for their charms, and they did not wish this knowledge to get out as it would have hurt business. Consequently, a code was made to keep these recipes secret. Much of this lore is still kept secret, and very little about the herbal codes have: been openly taught. It is perhaps time to change this. The following is part of the herbal code. Among different tribes and social systems, these codes went different. Here is one of them.

There are two kinds of Deja Vu
from admin on 12/14/2016 05:51 AMThere are two kinds of Deja Vu
Unexplained phenomena are so common we lose sight of how special
they are, or perhaps we've never recognised them in the first
place. Deja Vu is an experience most of us have from time to time.
If we think of Deja Vu as nothing more than a pleasant momentary
diversion, it doesn't seem all that magical. But if we acknowledge
it for what it actually is – a glimpse into The Other Side – it
takes on a whole new significance.
There are two kinds of Deja Vu.
1. This occurs when you visit a certain house, city, road, foreign
country, or some other specific location you've never been before
and suddenly realize it seems familiar. Sometimes you even feel you
know your way around. It is our Spirit's memory of a past life. We
have been there before; it was just in another body, in another
time. The spirit memory is usually deeply buried in the
subconscious, so those moments are not just magical, they are
powerful, miraculous glimpses into the eternity of our souls.
The same kind of Deja Vu applies to people as well. We all know
people who seem familiar to us the moment we meet them, strangers we
feel we have known all our lives. You will of course have known
them in at least one previous life. Note, that a past life
connection with someone in no way obligates you to form a connection
this time around. They may have been the bane of your previous
existence. They may have been lovely last time, but in this life
time are completely unpalatable.
2. This is a very common, subtle, and seemingly trivial deja vu
experience to which we rarely give more than a passing thought. It
consists of a moment in which every detail, from what you are doing
to whom you are doing it with to your surroundings to what you are
wearing and thinking and feeling, is so familiar that you are
absolutely sure you are reliving an exact duplicate of a moment from
your past. It never lasts more than a few seconds, and it is never
a significant event. It is literally gone the moment we notice it
is has just happened. The answer lies in our Blueprint.
As explained in the Blueprint section, before our spirit enters the
womb for another lifetime, we compose a chart or Blueprint, for the
life we are about to live. That Blueprint contains all the broad
strokes of this new life, although we can modify our charts
throughout our life.

A Lunar Eclipse
from admin on 12/14/2016 05:50 AMA Lunar Eclipse
From a magical perspective, a lunar eclipse is a time when the moon, the sun, and the earth are all in perfect alignment. Our planet sits between these two great bodies, and we feel the pull of the moon on one side, with the warmth of the sun on the other. In some traditions, this phenomenon is considered to be representative of the Goddess in all three forms - the maiden, the mother, and the crone. Regardless, it's a time when everything just falls into place, so any sort of magical workings are fair game during a lunar eclipse.

Ritual and a Study on the Elements and the Watchtowers
from admin on 12/14/2016 05:49 AMRitual and a Study on the Elements and the Watchtowers
YOU are more than capable of creating your own rituals for your own personal needs and goals. One of the things to incorporate into your ritual writing and planning is the astrological sign of the Moon. This is important in connecting to and using the natural energies that are the strongest at each New and Full Moon.
The first thing you want to be sure you understand is the way that the energies of the moon work. Each NEW MOON begins a new cycle & is excellent for initiating projects & doing ceremony or meditation for increase & growth. The time between the New & Full Moon is known as the Waxing moon, meaning the moon is growing in size & outward strength. During this time, meditations & spells for increase can be done effectively. The FULL MOON brings power & energy to both the seed you have planted at the New Moon or to fulfill a long-term goal or desire. The time between the Full Moon & the New Moon is known as the Waning moon; meaning the moon is decreasing in size but gaining in inward strength. It is a time to go inward to receive wisdom & information & to let go of things, attitudes or people who no longer contribute to your life or are detrimental to your goals.
When you check your calendar to see when the new and full moons are, also check for the astrological sign that the moon falls in that day. That will tell you what 'flavor' of energy the moon is expressing that day. In other words, what type of energy is the strongest and is best suited for your purposes. In general the following are the types of spells that work best for each astrological sign:
# An ARIES new or full moon is good for spells for energy, willpower and starting new projects.
# A TAURUS new or full moon is good for commitment, material gain and physical security.
# A GEMINI new or full moon is good for communication, journeys, new friends and new ideas.
# A CANCER new or full moon is good for spells to protect the home, for motherhood, psychic development and relationships.
# A LEO new or full moon is good for animal blessings, creativity, personal authority and self-esteem.
# A VIRGO new or full moon is good for work, health, intellectual gain and self-development.
# A LIBRA new or full moon is good for spells to promote harmony, partnerships, beauty and artistic talents.
# A SCORPIO new or full moon is good for occult knowledge, past lives, dream work and sexuality.
# A SAGITTARIUS new or full moon is good for honesty, adventures, prestige and luck.
# A CAPRICORN new or full moon is good for spells to realize professional ambitions, stability, organization and money through your efforts.
# An AQUARIUS new or full moon is good for higher learning, teaching, originality and to make changes in your life.
# A PISCES new or full moon is good for spells to develop your intuition, astral projection, romance and peace.
Put things into motion in such a way that your desires do not manipulate others. Everything can be done in a flowing way that does not force others to your will. Manipulating others ties your karma up with that individual & makes it very hard to make changes later if necessary. And, remember, everything you do returns to you three-fold. Some believe this means 3 times, others believe that the energy is returned to you on the physical, emotional & spiritual levels.
Magick is the use and release of focused energy; the more positive energy you put out, the more positive energy will be returned - the more negative & manipulative energy you put out, the more will be returned. Which would you prefer?
Calling the Quarters
After casting a circle, face north and say:
"Oh spirit guaridian of the North,
Ancient one of the earth,
I call thee to come forth and charge this circle,
with the power of three and rock."
Next face East and say:
"Oh spirit and guardian of the East,
Ancient one of the air,
I call thee to come forth and charge this circle,
With the power of the winds."
Next face the South and say:
"Oh spirit and guardian of the South,
Ancient one of the fire,
I call thee to come forth and charge this circle
With the power of the Flame."
Next face West and say:

Ancient one of the water,
I call thee to come forth and charge this circle.
With the power of the tides."
Turn to the North once again and say:

Re: Moon Void of Course
from admin on 12/14/2016 05:48 AMAnd this is a time to "not" do any ritual or spellworking of any kind, none! It goes awry and if you do get anything from it it will be all messed up from the moon not being in any station.
Moon Void of Course
from admin on 12/14/2016 05:48 AMWHEN THE MOON IS "VOID OF COURSE" THERE ARE DELAYS, FALSE STARTS AND UNEXPECTED HASSLES. Some people call this a "curve ball." This is because the moon will be moving between two different signs. This can last between a few seconds, minutes or hours and it can sometimes last a day or two. When the energy is faulty and unexpected, refrain from making decisions because judgment could be faulty because you would be making a decision when all the factors are not known. Do not sign contracts, shop or promise anything during this time. Also refrain from getting your feathers ruffled when the moon is "void of course" because it is better to just submit to spontaneity. How Fun? It can be plenty of fun if you work it right!
The 'Moon' itself describes what your immediate emotional response looks like with regard to daily Life circumstances, everyday affairs and domestic scenes. The Moon is a fast moving planet and changes every 2 - 2 1/2 days. How's that for dynamics and the ebb and flow of relationships? It also represents the attitude that you developed in childhood from your family.
Since the Moon rules the mother, it shows your relationship with your mother, just as Saturday, rules the father and shows your relationship with your father. It may also show dietary habits and preferences with food.
Look at it this way . . . you know how you feel when you move from one house (residence) to another house (residence)? There is a lot of packing, moving about and just general chaos keeping track of all of your stuff in trucks as it's being shuffled from one house to another. Well the energy of a planet preparing to move feels the same chaotic way. Energy is shifting and it feels off balance and cranky to say the least. This is not the time to sign something new or make a new plan while you are in the midst of change. If you notice in the dark blue areas of each of my calendars I call your attention to the 27 to 3 degree time period. So the degrees involved are 27, 28, 29, 00, 01, 02 and up until the start of 03 degrees. I calculate the start of the void at 27 degrees 00 minutes up until 02 degrees 59 minutes 59 seconds . . . once the next second ticks away and the 3 degree mark is reached, then it is out of the void and the planet has settled into the next sign. Now compare this to how you feel when you move from one house (residence) to another and need to get settled. I have checked some of the other Void of Course Moon Calendars out there on the web and I can tell you based on the time zone they have listed, it doesn't make sense and the Moon is 'still' making aspects to other planets. Go figure.

Witches Lesser Banishing Ritual Of The Pentagram
from admin on 12/14/2016 05:47 AMWitches Lesser Banishing Ritual Of The Pentagram
Paul Hume
The following text was an addendum to some Wiccan friends of mine written in 1986. It followed a fairly standard instruction in the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram, with which they were not familiar. We were feeling out some linking techniques leading to a proposed joint ritual involving several Wiccans and two ceremonial qabalists (one Thelemite - i.e. myself, and another). While events conspired to torpedo this project, some interesting ideas came along on both sides. The goal was a set of brief rituals meaningful to both traditions which we could practice individually, thus building up a group current prior to the date of the proposed rite (Samhain of that year). Herewith my notes on "The Wiccan Pentagram" ritual which evolved during this project. My primary source of God Forms was Paul Huson's MASTERING WITCHCRAFT which was my main source of information on Wicca at the time (I've done considerable study elsewhere since).
Non-Solar Symbolism
A ritual can be modified in many ways, to refit it for a different set of symbols, for example. I have taken the liberty of doing some research into alternate symbols for the Lesser Ritual of the Pentagram since I know that you work a lunar-feminine current (Wicca) whereas I use more solar-masculine symbols in my current (Thelemite). The Qabalistic Cross This might be used as is, though you could use the English if you don't feel that the Hebrew is relevant. I am sure you recognize the words as being similar to the end of the Lord's Prayer in the King James Version: 'Unto thee, the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory, forever! Amen.' I would point out that this formula was around a long time before Christ, much less the translators of the Standard Revised Version of the Bible. If you dislike such a specifically Christian form, it may be replaced with the words KETHER (KEH-THER), MALKUTH, GEBURAH, GEDULAH (or Crown, Kingdom, Power, Mercy), the spheres of occult energy that you are invoking with the Q-Cross. The mental images remain the same. You could even avoid these Hebrew symbols entirely, using Names and formulae more suitable to raising the cone of power, which is what you are doing here in Wiccan terms. See the 'Wiccan Cross,' below.
The principle is:
Invoke strongly the presence of the Supreme Creative Principle as you conceive it (or in your case, Her) to be. Your Name for the Goddess as Creatrix would be most suitable.
Draw down power from this Godhead and project it through your body into the Earth. Invoke strongly the Supreme symbol of Creation in your Tradition: maybe the God - as Son of the Goddess and Lord of the Trees, and as John Barleycorn, the ever- born and dying One.
Establish on your right side the Active Principle - Yang - the Projective Energy of the Universe. A God image, I should think.
Establish on your left side the Passive Principle - Yin - the Receiving Energy of the Universe. A Goddess force I feel.
Strongly visualize yourself at the center of these axes between the Infinities. This centers you at the middle of the Sacred Space to be created - the still point at the center of the universe.
The Pentagrams
Again, the pentagram should be used. This symbol is universal to many, many systems of magick, including Wicca, as you know. The five-pointed star has supreme power over the Elements: Spirit, Fire, Water, Air, and Earth. It drives off negative influences and attracts positive ones. It is an essential part of the rite and there is no symbol that can take its place as effectively.
The Names
I prefer using the Hebrew God-Names as is. In this connection they express formulae that govern the Elements and are no more religious than E=MC squared. However, there are equivalent Wiccan God-Names, which I describe in the next section, as substitutes for the Archangels. The use of the same Names to activate the stars and to invoke the Elemental force is quite in keeping with the Wiccan tradition, which does not use the same hierarchical system of God-Name, Archangel, Angel, Ruler, Spirit, etc. that Qabalism does.
The Archangelic Invocation
Instead of the Hebrew Archangels I described, you could use Wiccan Deities to invoke the 'pure' form of the Elements.
AIR-EAST: The Air image in Wicca seems to be masculine and relates to Herne, the Black Man, the messenger of the Gods, or the Sky Gods: Odin, or Lug as the rising Sun God. The God can be imagined as riding through the night sky, at the head of the Wild Hunt, or rising above the branches of the world-ash. Instead of the Sword given to Raphael, the God might carry a staff, or spear, or wand, which is attributed to Air in most Wiccan traditions.
FIRE-SOUTH: The Fire image is definitely masculine and relates to the Horned God: Cernunnos, Lucifer, call Him what you will. He stands in the hot light of the noonday sun, radiating fiery energy. He would bear an Athame or sword, which is the weapon of Fire in most Wiccan styles.
WATER-WEST: The Water image is the Maiden, the mistress of the Moon and the Tides: Aradia, Artemis, Venus rising from the waves. Her image is lit by the silver light of the moon, upon a tranquil reach of water or the foaming sea. She might hold the chalice, symbol of water (alternatively, the cauldron might be envisioned).
EARTH-NORTH: The Goddess in Her aspect as Earth Mother is here: Hertha, Habondia, Demeter. She stands beneath the golden, life-giving sun surrounded by the fruits of the Earth. Before her, a platter flows with good things of the Earth, for the disk/shield/platter is the pentacle, magick instrument of Earth. These are only bare sketches of the magickal images that a witch might use to replace the Qabalistic images of the traditional pentagram ritual. I offer them for what they are worth.
A few points to note:
the phases of the sun used in the Archangelic images (East:Dawn; South:Noon; West:Sunset; North:Midnight) are not the same, nor are they as important to Wicca. Instead, the poles of day and night are established: Night for the East-West axis and Day for the North-South axis.
the male-female poles are established with the masculine images (Herne and Cernunnos) attributed to the active Elements (Air and Fire) and the feminine images (Aradia and Habondia) to the passive Elements (Water and Earth). Note that one figure of each gender stands in light, and one in darkness. This male- female/positive-negative/active-passive polarity is central to virtually all systems of magick, e.g. the yin/yang symbol in oriental systems. I may be betraying solar-phallic tendencies by these assignments, and you may want to use different attributions: The Maiden can be Air and the Mother switch to Water, with the Hunter moving into Earth, for example. Heck, the dual God Forms should perhaps be invoked in each quarter. e.g. Venus/Adonis imagery in East or South, Hertha/Herne in West, etc.
The Star Of David
The last line of the Invocation refers to a 'six-rayed star' and the mental work calls for imagining a Star of David. This is not a specifically Jewish symbol in this context. The six-pointed star, or hexagram, is the Qabalistic symbol par excellence of initiation and spiritual illumination. The upward-pointing triangle represents the aspiration of the magician to the Gods, and the downward-pointing triangle represents the divine power, flowing down to the world. These meet at the moment of magick and the interlaced triangles forming the hexagram symbolize the power of this meeting. Should you prefer not to use the Star of David, you can replace the mental image with any symbol showing the meeting of your soul and the power of the Goddess. This can even be a private symbol, one that is meaningful only to you. Alternatively, you can just envision the sphere of white light from the Q-Cross, as a symbol of divine power. Replace the words about the 'six-rayed star' with some descriptive form: 'the seal of the Goddess,' or 'the sign of my Awakening,' or simply 'the light Divine.'
WICCAN PENTAGRAM RITUAL
Rubric [This is a form of the rite incorporating the changes in symbolism discussed above]
WICCAN CROSS Face East. Touch forehead. Say IO EVOE HERTHA ('Blessed be Hertha,' or other Name by which you worship the Goddess as Creatrix) Touch solar plexus or genitals. Say IO EVOE CERNUNNOS ('Blessed be Cernunnos,' or other name by which you worship the Horned God as the Earth) Touch right shoulder. Say EKO EKO AZARAK ('Hail, hail force of fire') Touch left shoulder. Say EKO EKO AMELAK ('Hail, hail to the glory') Extend arms in form of a cross. Say IO EVOE ('Blessed be.') Clasp hands upon breast and say 'So mote it be.'
CIRCLE OF PROTECTION Trace pentagram in East. Say HERNE. Trace circle of protection until facing South. Trace pentagram in South. Say CERNUNNOS. Trace circle of protection until facing West. Trace pentagram in West. Say ARADIA. Trace circle of protection until facing North. Trace pentagram in North. Say HABONDIA. Finish tracing circle, closing it in the East.
INVOCATION OF THE GREAT GODS Return to center of circle and face East. Extend arms in form of a cross. Chant:
Before me HERNE The Huntsman
Behind me ARADIA The Maiden
On my right hand CERNUNNOS, the Horned God
On my left hand HABONDIA, the Great Mother
About me flame the pentagrams
And above me shines the light of the Goddess.
Repeat the Wiccan Cross. Rather than performing this in the rather measured cadences of Qabalistic Ritual, a form of dancing and chanting more pleasing to the God-forms of Wicca might profitably be devised.
